Chocolate as a potential cancer fighter

When people hear the words "cancer" I can only assume they are overcome with fear, and anxiety. When society thinks of cancer they may think of words like chemo, losing hair, sickness, long term treatment plan and more...but do we ever think of the word "chocolate."  PROBABLY NOT! 

Yesterday, I was reading about cancer and in particular breast cancer, prostate cancer and GI cancer all which have properties that are molecularly responsible for increasing blood vessels in a tumor, making the cancer grow faster.  Chocolate has an element to it called "procyanidins" which has shown to deactivate a number of proteins that more than likely contribute to forcing cancer cells to continually divide.  Researchers at Georgetown University found that when they treated the cancer cells in breast cancer to the procyanidin compound, all four proteins involved in the reproduction of the cancer cells were essentially "turned off", and that the cancerous cells stopped dividing.  When it pertains to prostate cancer, and once again research at a different facility showed that when the cancer cells were treated with  cocoa polyphenol extracts which included flavonoids, catechins and cyanidins the results were that it "showed a strong and fast inhibition of cell reproduction."  As with GI cancer, the procyanidins in chocolate protect the healthy cells from inflammation....this is the power of chocolate.  And folks Xocai has the ONLY healthy chocolate!
